It was a hot and sunny 4th of July as dozens of running events took place across the front range. The Liberty Run 4 Mile attracted hundreds of runners and walkers to Wash Park in Denver.
Sunny skies and warm temperatures greeted 267 participants of Littleton's Firecracker 5K at Clement Park. The 4th of July festivities kicked off early with a fast race, prizes, vendor village, face painting, and Omaha Steaks Gourmet Franks and Village Inn Apple Pies.
On a hot day at the Western States 100 - where the heat reached 106 degrees at the mile-78 river crossing - winners Jim Walmsley and Courtney Dauwalter alighted fires of their own. Courtney finished in the second-fastest time ever by a woman.
