Colfax Marathon medals revealed

111

The Colfax Marathon is excited to announce the medals that runners will be receiving at the finish line on May 19th!

The Marathon, Marathon Relay, and Urban 10 Miler medals have the stadium, bridge, water, ferris wheel, and clock tower. The Half Marathon even has a lion stalking around and waiting for you to run by!

It’s antique silver etched, with a built-in stand for display, and charm that you can attach to a necklace or backpack zipper.

The race added a stand some years ago as they know that the medals often end up on a closet door handle or in a drawer as they are tough to display.  Many runners put these medals on their desk or shelf.  Runners are all about the experience they have on Race Day, and this is a great way to keep the memory going. They are one of the only races in the country that does this.

With the stand in mind they wanted to make the medals more of an art piece (rather than a traditional medal) representing elements/memories from the course as they are known to have one of the most scenic courses in the country, passing some of Denver’s most iconic landmarks. They also added a charm/mini-medal years ago – that you can remove and clip on a backpack or as a zipper pull. Giving runners another fun item to remember their accomplishment.

Marathon/Urban 10/Marathon Relay

  • Colorado emblem in the corners and Mile High street sign to remind runners they achieved their goal – at a mile high in Colorado.
  • All the landmarks are those runners pass on the course and we showcase different elements each year.
  • Stadium – drone view of the stadium – as the marathon course runs through it twice
  • Ferris Wheel from Elitches – course can see only downtown amusement park in the US – roller coaster to ferris wheel.
  • Daniels & Fisher Clocktower on the 16th street mall
  • Denver’s unique bridges on course – This one is on the Platte River just before you cross over to the stadium – the course goes under it twice. Denver has a great collection of bridges and we cross the Bronco bridge, go under the tressle bridge and this arched bridge, view the Confluence and bike path bridges and more
  • City Park – one of the most beautiful race start and finish areas in the US. With the lake, iconic fountain, and City Park Pavilion
  • The Denver skyline, cash register building, and mountains. Which runners see as they run and at the Finish Line Festival.
