Leadville Race Series Welcomes Over 600 Runners as Part of Silver Rush 50 Weekend

The Silver Rush 50 Run, owned and produced by Life Time, welcomed a field of approximately 615 runners representing 47 states and 5 countries to Leadville’s beautiful high country on Saturday. The 50-mile event that takes runners through extreme territory, starts at 10,200 feet and reaches 12,000 feet on four separate occasions. Returning for 2021, the endurance weekend also includes a Silver Rush 15-mile run. The event also includes a 50-mile relay option, in which two participants tackle the 50-mile course through an exchange at the Stumptown Aid Station, and a kid-friendly duathlon, which consists of a 2.5-mile bike, followed by a 1-mile run. Saturday’s events welcomed runners aging from 5 to 72 years of age.

In the women’s 50-mile run division, Lindsey Herman, 23, of Gunnison, Colo. placed first with a finish time of 8:02:15. Blake Wageman, 35, of Conifer, Colo. secured second place with a finish time of 8:20:45 and Letitia Dusich, 40, of Colorado Springs, Colo. placed third in the division with a completion time of 8:33:12.

For the men’s 50-mile run division, Scott Spillman, 35, of Denver, Colo. placed first with a finish time of 6:40:02. Christopher Hammes, 29, of Durango, Colo. secured second place with a finish time of 7:03:37 and Patrick Cade, 37, of Leadville, Colo. placed third in the division with a completion time of 7:08.52.

In the women’s 15-mile run division, Amelia Shea, 31, of Denver, Colo. placed first with a finish time of 1:58:02. Haley Zipperer, 27, of Breckenridge, Colo. secured second place with a finish time of 2:00:19 and Jacquie Mannhard, 36, of Boulder, Colo. placed third in the division with a completion time of 2:06:14.

In the men’s 15-mile run division, Sean Herring, 31, of Denver, Colo. placed first with a finish time of 1:55:39. Will Mathiowdis, 29, of Highlands, N.C. secured second place with a finish time of 2:18:37 and Kory Cool, 34, of Manhattan, Kans. placed third in the division with a completion time of 2:20:02.

In the kid’s duathlon female division, Layla Horning, 13, of Leadville, Colo. placed first with a finish time of 41:57. Isabella Speckman, 13, also of Leadville, Colo placed second with a finish time of 44:07 and Adalee Yoculan, 8, finished third with a finish time of 55:35.

In the kid’s duathlon male division, Devyn Sterkel,13, of Leadville, Colo. placed first with a finish time of 31:46. Wyatt Macy, 10, of Salida, Colo. placed second with a finish time of 33:25 and Sam Price, 14, placed third with a finish time of 36:37.

The endurance weekend continues tomorrow with the Stages Cycling Silver Rush 50 and 15-mile races. The next run event on the Leadville Race Series calendar is the Leadville Trail 10K, which will take place on Aug. 15, followed by the legendary Leadville Trail 100 Run presented by La Sportiva on Aug. 21-22, coined the “Race Across The Sky,” where it all started back in 1983. Next up is the Barn Burner Run event on Sept. 19 in Flagstaff, Ariz., followed by The ‘Rad Dirt Fest, a new event offering from the Life Time team that will take place in Trinidad, Colo, Oct. 2-3. The final run event on the Life Time off-road calendar is the Austin Rattler Run on Nov. 6.
