Backcountry Wilderness Half Marathon Has 353 Finishers

The 2020 Backcountry Wilderness Half Marathon, presented by the Littleton Adventist Hospital Centura Health, in Highlands Ranch had 353 finishers on Saturday, November 7. Unseasonably warm weather was a plus for the runners. Greg Morrin, 29, of Boulder topped the field of runners in 1:22:43. Boulder’s Trevor Turner was second and Jack Chambers of Highlands Ranch finished third overall. The women’s race was won by Bryn McKillop of Denver, 24, in 1:35:52. Littleton’s Anissa Swaney was second and Megan Wenham of Lone Tree finished in third.

2020 marked the 12th Annual Backcountry Wilderness Half Marathon in Highlands Ranch.  The 13.1 mile scenic trail run utilized the Douglas County East/West trail and the Highlands Ranch Community Association’s Backcountry Wilderness Area trails. The dirt run was a single loop course.

Prize Money was awarded to the top three male and female overall winners in the following amounts – 1st= $400    2nd= $200   3rd=$100.
