Denver Parks and Recreation has closed Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre until further notice.
The amphitheater has been closed for concerts since March 16, and the cancellation of the traditional Easter sunrise services was previously announced, but the park has remained open for hikers and those wanting to just take in the views. The Easter service at Red Rocks has been a tradition for 70 years.
A tweet sent out on April 10 by the Denver Department of Parks and Recreation announced that both the park and the amphitheater were closing at 6 p.m. that day “until further notice to limit the spread of COVID-19.”
The parking lots are closed off, and officials say they’ll issue warnings to visitors, but that could grow to a $999 fine.
Many people were going to the park to hike, climb the stairs or just to take in the beautiful views.
