Mesa Monument Striders
Welcome to the Mesa Monument Striders running club located in Grand Junction Colorado. The club is made up of exercise enthusiasts who endorse running as a healthy, enjoyable activity. Running activities include but are not limited to road races, trail runs, weekly group runs, ultra marathons, high school and college track and cross country running and cross country skiing.
The Striders supports local runs through promotion, coordination, scheduling and insurance.
The Striders running club was first organized in 1978 by local Grand Junction runners, Clarence Craig, Tom Harshman, Larry Ingram and Krisman. They put on the first Western Slope marathon the following year. That marathon started at 25 1/2 and Patterson and ended at Highline lake.
The Striders conducts a business meeting once a month and a holiday party in December.
The Striders publishes a newsletter 11 times a year. The newsletter contains articles written by Strider members and guest authors about running events. A list of upcoming events is included in the newsletters as well as results from recently completed races.
An annual Calendar of Events is published at the beginning of every year.
