It was a hot and sunny 4th of July this past Wednesday as dozens of running events took place across the front range. The Liberty Run 4 Mile attracted hundreds of runners and walkers to Wash Park in Denver, where the Denver Fire Department Foundation acted as beneficiary and provided a host of fun activities.
In addition to the 4M race, there was a Firecracker Kids Run Run, Firefighter Department Team Competition, Costume Contest, food, refreshments, and more. The top finishers and age groupers were recognized during the award ceremony following the 4M.
The men’s 4M was dominated by Matthew Cozine, who won handily in 21:54. Coming in second was Matthew Lofton in 23:14, followed by David Gramer in third in 24:52.
In the women’s 4M, Katie Chambers crossed the line first in 25:35, with Rochelle Persson coming in second in 26:32. Donna Garcia rounded out the top three in 28:14.
The Liberty Run is proud to support the Denver Fire Department Foundation and its Mission to support our firefighters by educating the community about the Department, and raising funds for firefighter health and wellness programs.
