New Course Records Set at the Super Half Marathon & Game Day 5K

Pristine race conditions welcomed hundreds of participants to the Super Half Marathon and Game Day 5K, leading to new overall course records set in both distances for both the men and the women.

Starting and finishing in downtown Colorado Springs, the event features fast, out-and-back courses along the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail, in addition to a plethora of race day schwag and festivities.  The Woodland Park Park High School’s band, ensemble and cheerleaders were on hand to get the event started, with the post-race celebration taking place at Jack Quinn’s.

In the men’s half marathon, 26-year old Stephen VanGampleare set a new course record in 1:11:02.  Also under the previous course record was Payton Batliner of Denver, who came in second in 1:13:06.  Rounding out the top three was 19-year old Erik McMillan in 1:17:30.

The women’s half marathon saw 20-year old Lindsey Koch set a new course record in 1:22:00, with 39-year old Kelly Williamson coming in second in 1:24:03.  Kristina Mascarenas of Colorado Springs crossed the line in third in 1:27:12.

In the men’s 5K, 31-year old Carlos Trujillo set a new course record in 15:45.  Adam Rich wasn’t far behind, coming in second in 16:02, with 36-year old Michael Weiss finishing third in 16:28.

Finally, in the women’s 5K, 31-year old Ana Maria De Vries set a new course record in 18:41.  Taylor Hoover of Colorado Springs finished second in 18:57, with 39-year old Elizabeth Helland rounding out the podium in 19:38.
