Yesterday’s Kaiser Permanente Colfax Marathon was a competitive edition of this event.
Winners Nicholas Mockeridge (2:34:27) and Nicole Chyr (2:59:01) ran to victory in cool, rainy weather. Erik Grumstrup (2:37:48) and Pat Sullivan (2:40:57) were second and third males. Amy Smith (3:10:24) and Yasuyo Kiano (3:16:26) rounded out the top three females.
In the half marathon, Charles Hillig ran 1:11:44. Lawrence Gowin was second in 1:17:04; Tommy Manning ran 1:19:24 for third. Joanne Zeiger ran 1:23:52 for the women’s half marathon win. Natalie Davey (1:24:08) and Lauren Rinck (1:26:44) took second and third place.
Meanwhile, Saturday’s events kicked off the first edition of the Colfax 5k and Kids Run. Rachel Gioscia-Ryan won the race in 18:00. Eric Garber was the first male, running 18:22.
Also on Saturday, six hundred kids who have been learning to eat well and run right through the Kids Running America (KRA), ran the last mile of their marathon distance and continued on towards a life of healthy living. Bryan Ontiveros was first in 8:46. Zoe McCoy won for the young ladies in 10:54.
