Cool temperatures and even a few snowflakes set the stage for the Rockin’ on the River 5K Sunday morning at Hudson Gardens in Littleton, CO.  The race is the second event in the South Suburban Parks & Recreation District’s Race Series, sponsored by Run Colorado.  Over 200 participants came out for the race and enjoyed live music performed by local band Dysfunction Junction.  The course follows the classic South Platte River route along the Mary Carter Greenway, starting and finishing at Hudson Gardens.  The flat and fast course, coupled with the race series points up for grabs, attracted some fast runners.

The men’s race saw 14-year old Gage Voss grab the win in 17:49.  It was a fight for second and third place, as fellow teen Davis Wuthrish and Lakewood’s Marty Billings sprinting it out.  Race results state both as crossing the line in 18:23.

In the women’s race, Colorado Springs‘ Johanna Gartman set a fast pace from the start and led wire-to-wire, taking the win in 18:29.  Coming in second was Evergreen’s Amy Armstrong in 19:17, with Angela Lowell rounding out the top three in 20:38.
