Running USA, the premier trade organization for the road race industry, recently released its list of the 100 Largest Road Races in the United States for 2024. BOLDERBoulder ranked as the fourth-largest race, climbing two spots from its position in 2023.

Last year 41,491 finishers crossed the finish line inside Folsom Field on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, marking an 18.3% increase from 2023 and surpassing the number of finishers in 2019, the last year before the COVID pandemic. This 18.3% growth was the largest among the top ten races.

The BOLDERBoulder was the largest race in the western United States, with only three events surpassing it in size: the TCS New York City Marathon (56,859 participants), the Bank of America Chicago Marathon (52,072 participants), and the AJC Peachtree Road Race (43,345 participants).

We are incredibly proud to be part of one of the largest and most celebrated races, not just in the U.S., but in the world. The BOLDERBoulder has become a Memorial Day tradition for the entire Boulder community, and that is something we hold dear. Our growth and success have been built on a singular focus: to work every day to create the best experience possible for every participant, from walkers to runners, and even our professional racers.

Race Director Cliff Bosley

The 2025 BOLDERBoulder, scheduled for Monday, May 26, offers participants of all abilities the opportunity to run, jog, or walk at their own pace. Along the course, participants will be entertained by official musical groups and unofficial spectator-created fun zones. As runners finish, they will fill Folsom Field to witness the conclusion of the International Team Challenge, followed by one of the country’s largest Memorial Day tributes, honoring the American warriors who have fallen in defense of the United States.
