Though the name Oliver Horton of Coronado High School may sound familiar, this sophomore is showing huge improvements from his very impressive freshman season, where he finished an impressive 3rd place in the 3200m at the 4A Colorado State Championships.

However, Horton deserves to be re-introduced as a current and a future star, because sometimes it is easy to forget he is only a sophomore! After placing well at state and at national level meets, Horton is showing a lot of maturity and capability to compete with the best in Colorado and even the nation.

So far this track season, Horton has run 9:07 and 4:15 in the 3200m and the 1600m, putting him near the top of the rankings in both events in Colorado. Horton will definitely continue to grow this season, and though he already is a star, he still has a lot of potential to grow even more to become one of Colorado’s bigger stars in the future.
