The Colorado Marathon is proud to announce its selection as the 2024 RRCA Colorado State Marathon Championship for the second consecutive year. The Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) awards this prestigious designation to events that embody the essence of grassroots, community-based running.

According to RRCA Program Director Andy Smith, the selection process for Championship Events considers various factors, including size, course, reputation, charitable giving, accessibility, and impact on the running community. “The Colorado Marathon excels in all of these areas,” says Smith. “It is a well-organized event that welcomes runners of all abilities and gives back to the community.”

The Colorado Marathon, which takes place in Fort Collins, Colorado, on May 5, 2024, has been a staple in the running community for over 20 years. Race Director Paul Sovik-Siemens is grateful for being chosen as the RRCA Colorado State Marathon Championship. “It’s an honor to receive this designation,” says Sovik-Siemens. “It adds extra meaning to the Marathon distance and provides valuable support for our event, including race recognition and additional swag and awards for the winners.”

The RRCA Championship Event Series aims to promote and support local running events across the country. “While not uncommon for a race to be selected in consecutive years,” Smith states, “there is a higher threshold of meeting the above standards to be chosen two years in a row. We are proud to have the Colorado Marathon as part of this series,” says Smith. “It is a well-respected event that truly embodies the spirit of grassroots running.”

“We are excited to host the RRCA Colorado State Marathon Championship this year and showcase our amazing community to runners from all over the state and beyond,” says Sovik-Siemens. “We can’t wait to welcome everyone to Fort Collins in 2024 for another unforgettable race experience.”

Registration is open for the 2024 Colorado Marathon on Sunday, May 5th. For more information or to register for the event, visit www.thecoloradomarathon.com.
