Tyler Andrews of Concord, Mass. sets new course record in the marathon, Elizabeth Hogan of Louisville, Colo. finished first in the women’s division.

The Life Time Leadville Trail Marathon and Heavy Half presented by La Sportiva welcomed a field of more than 1,600 runners to Leadville’s beautiful high country on Saturday. The marathon and half marathon events feature out-and-back courses that take runners across extreme singletrack terrain through the historic mining areas outside of Leadville, Colorado. Both courses top out at 13,185 feet at Mosquito Pass, the highest continuous pass in the country, and the event has been hailed as the highest start line for a trail Marathon in the USA. Life Time (NYSE: LTH), owner of the Leadville Race Series, welcomed runners ages 17 to 81 years of age from 47 states and eight countries at the event.

What a tremendous record setting day! Not only were two course records set in our men’s marathon and half marathon race, but an equally awesome and close race on the women’s side also. While the weather was a consideration today, it turned out to be near perfect!

And one last record kickoff of the summer: These events are truly special and a gift but not without an impact just by shear volume and footprint in a small community. Today, you, our athletes, helped us kickoff a plan to decrease the impact on our downtown Leadville community. Thank you so very much for listening, for utilizing our shuttles and parking plan, for showing up and setting the bar for the rest of the season. The forecast is good, the ingredients premium, and all of you are the fuel to launch a record setting season!
