In 89-degree heat in Eugene, Hilary Bor of Colorado Springs won the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in 8:21.34, earning his second trip to the Games in the event.

Training Partner Benard Keter was second in 8:21.81, and Mason Ferlic finished third in 8:22.05. Keter did not have the Olympic standard before the race, but he ran it in the race, securing his spot for Tokyo. It’s the first Olympics for Keter and Ferlic.

Bor and Keter train together under coach Scott Simmons in Colorado Springs, in a group that includes 2016 Olympians Paul Chelimo, Leonard Korir, and Shadrack Chipchirchir. Several of the runners in the group have spent time with the Army’s World Class Athlete Program (WCAP), and Keter is currently in the program.
