Thousands Took to the Streets of Denver for Hot Chocolate 5K and 15K

The Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k/5k, coined as America’s Sweetest Race, brought thousands of runners to the streets of Denver this weekend. Established in 2008, the inaugural Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k/5k ran through the streets of Chicago, Illinois. Since its inception, over 200,000 participants have run for chocolate, making it the fastest growing race series in the nation!

Longmont’s Alex Diltz led the charge in the 15K race in 50:04, running a 5:23 per mile pace. Shannon Kinney of Louisville won the women’s 15K event in 58:56. Nearly 3,000 runners completed the 15k course.

In the 5k, Ashley Luna of Littleton was the top woman in 19:12 and Aurora’s Daniel Grant won the 5k race in 17:49, good for a 5:44 per mile pace. Overall, nearly 6,000 runners and walkers participated in the 5k race.

Each Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k/5k race features both a 15k (9.3miles) and 5k (3.1miles) distance and all runners are encouraged to join the fun! Participants received an award winning goodie bag, which they collected at the expo along with their race packet.

The chocolate flowed at the Post Race Party where runners enjoyed music, Hot Chocolate merchandise, and a finisher’s mugs filled with hot chocolate, chocolate fondue and tasty dippable treats!
