Almost 1,700 participants converged on City Park this past Saturday for Colorado Runner’s inaugural Donut Dash 5K and 10K. The weather was warm and sunny, providing a beautiful backdrop for a fun morning to enjoy the sweet satisfaction of running and donuts!

After a lap (or two for the 10Kers, or three for the Doublers) around a flat and fast City Park course, runners and walkers were treated to a festive post-race celebration that featured a vendor village, food, drinks, and of course, donuts. An award ceremony honored the top finishers and age groupers with special awards and Runners Roost gift certificates. As usual, the event saw some of Colorado’s speedsters post impressive times.

In the men’s 10K, Pat Matecki took top honors in 35:09, followed by Jess Palmer in 36:15, and third place finisher Christopher Desilets in 36:46.

The women’s race was extremely close, with only a second separating first and second place. Allison Toppen prevailed, crossing the line first in 42:18, followed by Kelly Williams in second in 42:19. Madi Dakin rounded out the top three in 46:22.

In the men’s 5K, Adam Rich came in first in 16:09, followed by Andy Rine in 17:11. Third place belonged to Tyler Johnson in 17:25.

The women’s race saw Ashley Brasovan not only take top honors for the ladies, but finish fourth over all in a course record 17:35. Lindsey Koch came in second in 18:07, followed not far behind by third place finisher Anna Hudson, who crossed the line in 18:44.

The top finishers in the doubler’s category were Christopher Desilets for the men, with a combined time of 54:23, and Jeannene Gonzales for the women, with a combined time of 1:20:18.
