Newly released within the 2018 Oiselle Spring Collection, the Ballard Bra is named after a hip Seattle neighborhood situated on the waterfront and centered on historic Ballard Avenue. True to its roots, the bra has a trendy look and feel to it, with double straps and mesh inset detailing on the front. Don’t let the fancy look fool you though, this bra is made for the active athlete. The double straps help distribute weight and the Nyelle™ Compression fabric provides a soft, comfortable, and supportive ride. Plus, it comes with removable cups for the wearer’s preference.
- Pro’s of the Ballard Bra include a high compression but comfortable fit for moderate to high impact workouts, in addition to the bit of flair the double straps and mesh provide. Also, there was little to no chafing in any areas that the bra fit.
- Neither a pro nor a con, the bra does fit high up on the chest, which could be a like or dislike for some wearers.
- Unable to gear test a larger cup size, the only con explained on the website is the lack of compression for bigger chests (D or DD). An argument could also be made for more exciting colors or prints (the bra is currently only available in black, white, or blue).
Coming in at $50, the Ballard Bra seems to be a win for the Spring Collection, and a possible mainstay in the Oiselle shop.
About Oiselle
Founded in 2007, Oiselle approaches performance wear from the lens of the athlete and natural movement – reevaluating women’s fashion from a humanist standpoint and psychologically claiming an athlete identity. Oiselle embodies the notion that running is more than a physical activity, but also a philosophy that helps women increase their courage, confidence, and health. A French word for bird, Oiselle (pronounced wa-zell) alludes to that feeling of freedom and flight that most runners know; when the legs go fast and the heart goes free.
