Runners Brave Freezing Temps at Super Sunday 5K

Every year, South Suburban Parks and Recreation puts on the Super Sunday 5K on Super Bowl Sunday. This year, the weather brought out some flurries and temperatures in the med-teens. That didn’t stop 250 brave souls from venturing to the Farmhouse at Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton for an out and back 5K along the Mary Carter Greenway.

This year, Tristan Mitchell broke out the shorts and crossed the line 13 seconds up on Scott Swaney in 17:11 to defend his title from 2017. Eric Monda was close behind in 17:30.

Centennial’s Kelly Escorcia moved up two spots from last year to break the tape in 19:55. Tara McFarlin (20:45) and A. Mitchell (20:48) rounded out the podium for the ladies.

After the race, participants were able to partake in a discounted brunch menu at the brewery as well as happy hour pricing on all beers on tap.
