Women’s Marathon Winner Ali Kelley

It was a beautiful morning in northern Colorado’s Yampa Valley for the 36th Annual Steamboat Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K. Hundreds of participants converged on the small mountain town of Steamboat Springs, where they were treated to a one of the country’s top destination races due to its gorgeous course and festive post-race celebration.

In the men’s marathon, 22-year old Dylan Jennings of Golden took top honors in 2:54, with 38-year old Stephen Kaye of Centennial not far behind, coming in second in 2:55:54. Boulder’s David Bisenius crossed the line in third in 2:58:41.

The women’s marathon winner also finished fourth overall; Ali Kelley of Berkeley, CA finished first for the ladies in 3:03:22. Second place belonged to Celia Stockwell of Menlo Park, CA in 3:21:35, with Steamboat’s own Andrea Wilhelm repeating her 2016 3rd place finish in 3:24:26.

The men’s half marathon was close, with all three top finishers crossing the line within two minutes of each other. Steamboat’s Gabriel Small bettered his 2016 second place finish with a win in 1:17:13; 40-year old Daniel Goding of Loveland also bettered his 2016 third place finish, coming in second in 1:18:46, and 45-year old Scott Loomis of Steamboat came in third in 1:19:33.

In the women’s half marathon, Broomfield’s Shawna McClain took the win and finished fourth overall in 1:21:40. Coming in second was Katie Kissane of Windsor in 1:27:29, with Steamboat’s Briana Perkins rounding out the top three in 1:33:57.

Steamboat residents represented well in the 10K, with all podium finishers in the men’s and women’s races hailing from the small town. In the men’s race, 18-year old Tyler Terranova edged out 35-year old Joshua Smullin with a 38:17 finishing time; Smullin finished second in 38:31. Coming in a close third was 17-year old Jimmy Colfer in 40 minutes flat.

The women’s race saw 18-year old Dasha Kuznetsova finish first in 43:50, with 16-year old Sadie Cotton crossing the line in second in 45:13. Rounding out the podium was 18-year old Kat O’Connell in 45:37.
