Sunny skies and pristine running conditions set the stage for the Platte River Half Marathon and Buckhorn Exchange Relay, which started in downtown Littleton and ran along the South Platte River Trail before finishing in front of the Buckhorn Exchange. Thousands of runners took part in the event, which not only features a half marathon, but also hosts a relay, consisting of three legs of 5 miles, 5 miles and 3.1 miles.
Afterwards, runners took advantage of the beautiful weather and celebrated their efforts at the post-race party which featured drinks, live entertainment and an awards ceremony to honor the top overall and age group finishers. Relay awards were also presented to the top three male, female and co-ed teams.
In the men’s half marathon, 35-year old Jordan Jones took top honors in 1:14:13, with 34-year old Dan Berteletti coming in second in 1:16:14. Rounding out the top three was 38-year old Dan Springborn in 1:17:44.
The women’s half marathon saw 20-year old Lindsey Koch take the win in 1:18:47, which was also good for fifth overall. Coming in second was 34-year old Maggie Walsh in 1:21:32, with 29-year old Ashley Kempton crossing the line in third in 1:27:05.
