Almost 500 participants toed the line for the 35th Annual Farmers 5000 in Wheat Ridge. It was a picture-perfect morning, with sunny skies, warm temperatures and a fun atmosphere. Hosted by – and supporting – Wheat Ridge High School, the event raises funding to support various educational and special programs within the school, as well as promote physical fitness and community spirit. With the course winding its way in and around the suburban Wheat Ridge neighborhood, runners and walkers were treated to a relatively flat course.
The men’s race saw Jonathan Aziz of Boulder run away with the win, leading wire to wire and finishing in 16:14. Coming in second was Chris Bridges in 18:27, with 19-year old Max Ruth rounding out the top three in 19:19.
