Pristine race conditions set the stage for the 6th Annual Frank Shorter RACE4Kids’ Health 5K & Health Odyssey Expo Sunday morning at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, CO.  Over 600 participants came out and took part in one of the many activities taking place:  the new Mazzola’s Miracle Mile Relay, the Diaper Dash and Buzz, and of course, the flat and fast 5K course around the 1STBANK Center.

The men’s 5K race saw an exciting finish, with Tyler McCandless and Branden Johnson fighting it out until the bitter end.  McCandless squeezed by with the win in 15:32, with Johnson coming in second in 15:33.  Dillon Shije rounded out the op three in 16:47.

In the women’s 5K, 2014 winner Kristen Arendt held on to her title with a win this year in 17:50.  Coming in second was Amanda Lee in 18:25, with Heather Utrata finishing third in 18:52.

Proceeds from the event benefit Healthy Learning Paths, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that empowers children and families to lead healthy lives through their Be Well, Learn Well school program.
