Rob Krar and Emma Roca Take the Win at 32nd Annual ‘Race Across the Sky’ Leadville Trail 100 Run

Nearly 700 runners compete in legendary 100 mile event to earn coveted buckle

August 16 and 17 marked the 32nd annual Leadville Trail 100 Run, presented by New Balance and produced by Life Time – The Healthy Way of Life Company (NYSE: LTM). Nearly 700 runners from across the U.S. and around the world came to Leadville, Colo., to compete in the legendary ‘Race Across the Sky’ event and run 100 miles through the challenging Colorado Rockies terrain with elevations ranging from 9,200 to 12,600 feet and a total elevation climb of more than 18,000 feet.

Rob Krar of Flagstaff, Ariz., (U.S.) won the race at 16:09:32, setting the second fastest time in course history, with Colorado’s own Michael Aish of Arvada, Colo., (U.S.) finishing second at 16:38:35 and Ian Sharman of Walnut Creek, Calif., (U.K.) finishing third at 16:41:38. In the women’s division, Emma Roca (Spain) took the top honors and finished in 19:38:04. Liza Howard of San Antonio, Texas (U.S.) finished second at 20:01:13 and Colorado’s Carrie Stafford of Vail, Colo., (U.S.) finished third at 23:56:50.

“Once again the participants at the Leadville 100 Run astonished us with their guts, grit and determination to compete and finish this arduous 100 mile race,” said Josh Colley, Leadville race director. “Congratulations to our overall winners Rob and Emma and let’s celebrate all the runners who gave it their all on the race course this weekend. All of our participants are champions in our eyes and inspire us to push beyond what we think is possible in our own healthy way of life journeys.”

The Leadville Trail 100 run also marked the fifth and final challenge for those who competed for the title of Leadman and Leadwoman.  Each Leadman and Leadwoman candidate must also compete in the Leadville Trail Marathon, Leadville Silver Rush 50-Mile Mountain Bike or Silver Rush 50-Mile Trail Run, Leadville Trail 100 MTB, presented by HerbaLife24 and the Climax Molybdenum Leadville 10K Run. This year nearly 100 people competed for the title. Winners will be announced in September.
