Hundreds of participants flocked to City Park Saturday morning for the Girls on the Run 5K Rockies edition – a non-profit organization that provides an innovative health education and wellness program. Girls, women, boys and men took to the trails and roads around City Park to benefit the health and confidence of girls nationwide.
In perfect Girls on the Run fashion, the top three finishers in the 5K race were females. 29-year old Shira Evans took top honors with a finishing time of 20:47. Second place belonged to 39-year old Adriana Yodel in 21:20, and Lauren Fittz of Denver rounded out the top three in 21:34.
In the male 5K race, 49-year old Tony Tochtrop crossed the line first in 22:08, with second place finisher Zach Dizdar, 13, finishing up in 22:11. 56-year old Ray Blum rounded out the top three with a finishing time of 22:27.
