Marathon Signs Three Sponsors and Launches Race Web Site
DENVER, Colo. – The new Denver MarathonTM is pleased to announce that the Adam’s Mark Hotel, KCNC-TV CBS4, and the Metro Denver Sports Commission will support the Fall 2006 Denver Marathon as sponsors for the highly anticipated, first annual race in the Denver community. Denver now joins the ranks of other major U.S. cities as a world class marathon destination.
In addition to its sponsorship, the Adam’s Mark Hotel will serve as the Official Race Headquarters Hotel for the inaugural Denver Marathon scheduled for October 15, 2006. The hotel will serve as “Athletes’ Village” catering to all of the runners’ needs throughout Marathon weekend, including special discounted rooms and the Denver Marathon Health and Fitness EXPO which will take place on the Friday and Saturday preceding the event.
“Through our collaborative efforts with CBS4, the Sports Commission, and the Adam’s Mark Hotel, we are working to create a race that will attract runners of all abilities, from world class athletes to weekend warriors… a true Denver tradition in the making,” said Dave McGillivray, Race Director of the Denver Marathon and Race Director of the BAA Boston Marathon for which he has worked tirelessly for the past 18 years. McGillivray is known throughout the event management world for his operational expertise, attention to detail and creativity as a director of sporting events across the country.
The Adam’s Mark Hotel sponsorship adds strength to a growing event and will serve as a hub for the Marathon weekend. The race has also signed on KCNC-TV CBS4 as its official broadcast partner and secured the support of the Metro Denver Sports Commission. CBS4 will work with the race to produce pre-event profiles and features, race day coverage and more. The Sports Commission, whose mission is to attract and facilitate world class sporting events in the Denver area, will work with the Denver Marathon to create economic and social opportunities for Denver businesses, athletes and spectators.

The Denver Marathon also launched a new Web Site, www.denvermarathon.com, designed for runners to register and receive up-to-date information on the Denver Marathon, including schedules for the weekend and race day, travel arrangements, training tips and schedules and volunteer opportunities.
he Denver Marathon will offer runners the opportunity to participate in a marathon, half-marathon, or a four-person marathon relay. The Denver Marathon course will start and finish in downtown and race through Denver’s most-scenic parks creating a community-wide festival atmosphere.
