Ric Rojas Running Qualifies 16 to Region X Junior Olympics

Ric Rojas Running advanced 16 athletes to the Region X Junior Olympics to be held in Provo, Utah on July 10th and 11th.

Team Rojas was led by Mullen senior Ryann Russ who captured the girls age 17-18 steeplechase and 3000m. Niwot senior Alex Paul won the boys age 17-18 1500m and finished second in the 800m. Eldorado Middle School 8th grader Zane Jeffress took the boys 13-14 400m-dash narrowly defeating team-mate, Fairview 9th grader Nate Gilbert.

Also in the winners circle and advancing to Provo were Team Rojas girls 11-12 3200m Relay (Lauren Sharpe, Rachel Sharpe, Sophie Brussell and Amanda Worthy), boys 13-14 1600m Relay (Zane Jeffress, Rich Sanchez, Nate Gilbert and Harrison Leachman), boys 13-14 3200M Relay (Zane Jeffress, Rich Sanchez, Matt Tubbs, and Jack Preigh), and boys 10 and under 1600m Relay (Zach Roach, William Dixon, Cade Jeffress and Matthew Perry).

Individuals advancing to The USATF Region X Championships are William Dixon (800m and 400m), Sophie Brussell (1600m and 3200m Relays), Rachel Sharpe (400m, 800m and 3200m Relay), Marina Urquhart (1600m Relay), Amanda Worthy (1500m, 3200m and 1600m Relays), Zane Jeffress (400m,1600m and 3200m Relays), Harrison Leachman (1600m Relay), Rich Sanchez (1600m and 3200 Relays), Matthew Tubbs (3200m Relay), Jack Preigh (3000m and 3200m Relay), Nate Gilbert (400m and 1600m Relay), Anna Clauson (long jump), Ryann Russ (3000m and 2000m steeplechase), Alex Paul (800m and 1500m), Lauren Sharpe (1600m and 3200m Relay) and Hayden Loudenslager (high jump, long jump and triple jump).

Alternates are:
Matt Tubbs is the alternate for the Boys 13-14 4x400M Relay.
Alexi Lainis is the alternate for the Boys 13-14 4x3200m Relay
Katie Sanchez is the alternate for the girls 11-12 4x400m Relay

Team Rojas is composed by over 50 boys and girls ranging in age from 9 to 18 representing 12 schools from the Denver Metro Area. Team members compete in the Boulder Road Runners Summer Track Series, the Junior Olympics, and the Boulder Race Series.
